Standard Dimension Styles in IntelliCADUsing dimension styles in IntelliCAD 98. I learned most of this through trial and error. Sharing it here might help a few peopleIn IntelliCAD you set the default values for creating dimension notations on your plans by creating your own custom dimension "styles" using the "SETDIM" dialog box. You can then use Drawing Explorer to copy your custom dimension styles to other drawings. Use of the Dimension settings dialog box is fairly self-explanatory, and is documented in both Chapter 12 of the "Using IntelliCAD 98" manual and the online help, so I will not duplicate that information. Standard Dimension StylesIf you create custom dimension styles that you want to use as a standard in most of your drawings, create and save them in the ICAD.DWG file (the default prototype drawing -- a copy of this file opens whenever you select "new" in the file menu or click on the "new" icon). Create and save different settings for various scale drawings or details, calling them obvious names such as "20scale" or "1_200scale". Transfer those styles to other drawings rather than recreating them. Anytime you want to add one of your custom dimension styles to a drawing, open the drawing you want to send them to in IntelliCAD, then select "new" to also open a copy of ICAD.DWG. This is where the multiple drawing interface is a great feature! Now open the Drawing Explorer. You will find both open drawings listed in the left column. Highlight your custom dimension style in the new drawing file and press CTRL-C to copy it to the clipboard. Next highlight "dimension styles" under the heading of your other drawing and press CTRL-V (paste). Your custom style will be pasted from the clipboard into the drawing. Easy!
