1D-HAM
Coupled Heat, Air and Moisture Transport in Multi-layered Wall Structures. The PC-program 1D-HAM solves the problem of one-dimensional coupled heat, air and moisture transport in a multi-layered porous wall. The program is based on the finite difference technique with explicit forward differences in time. Analytical solutions for the coupling between the computational cells for a given air flow through the construction are used. Moisture is transferred by diffusion and convection in vapor phase. No liquid water transport occurs. Heat is transferred by conduction, convection and latent heat. Climatic data are supplied through a data file with a maximum resolution of values per hour over the year. The program accounts for surface absorption of solar radiation.

CELLAR
The PC-program CELLAR calculates the heat loss to the ground from a rectangular building with a foundation of the cellar type with constant insulation thickness at the floor and the wall. Both the heat loss variation during the year, including the peak effect, and the accumulated heat loss during the heating season are calculated.
The results are based on heat conduction in a semi-infinite ground with homogeneous soil. The effect of moisture movements or changes in moisture content is not considered.

FirstRate house energy rating software is a powerful design tool which takes the guesswork out of energy efficient design. It enables you to evaluate the energy performance of each part of a house and, by testing the effects of design changes instantly, makes designing for energy efficiency easy.
The house energy rating measures the energy efficiency of a house by allocating a point score for various design features (such as building fabric, window design, insulation, orientation and other features) and provides an overall rating on a scale from 0 to 5 stars, with half star increments. An energy efficient house rates 4 stars or higher.
The house energy rating is independent of the size and type of housing. This means that both large and small houses, attached and detached dwellings each have the potential to achieve a good energy efficiency rating.
